Artiste

Mohamed Larbi Rahhali, né en 1956, vit et travaille à Tétouan. Ses expositions collectives récentes inclues Here and Elsewhere, New Museum, New York (2015), Sous nos yeux part.3, MACBA, Barcelone (2015), Sous nos yeux Part.2, Kunsthalle centre d’art contemporain, Mulhouse (2013), Sentences on the bank and other activities, Darat Al Funun, Aman, Jordanie (2010).VOICE gallery, Marrakech (2018). Il est également invité a participé à la résidence d'artiste Pernod-Ricard à la Villa Vassilieff (Paris, France, 2018). Il a participé au workshop 3RS Maroc mené par Seamus Farrell et organisé par L’appartement 22 entre Rabat, Fes et Tetouan (2007). Mind Moves Matter présentée à L’appartement 22 est la première exposition personnelle de l’artiste.

International

Mohamed Larbi Rahhali graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Tétouan in 1984, where he also worked as Faouzi Laatiris’ assistant for the Volume and installation atelier. Mohamed Larbi Rahhali’s work is deeply influenced by his fisherman’s profession and his daily life in the medina of Tétouan. It oscillates between cosmology, esotericism and social issues such as survival and mutual aid. His work also highlights a collective memory shared between Morocco and Spain and testifying of a colonial history. Group exhibitions include Elsewhere, New Museum, New York (2015); Sous nos yeux part.3, MACBA, Barcelona (2015); Merchants of Dreams, Viborg Kunsthal, Viborg (2016); Volumes Fugitifs, Musée Mohamed VI, Rabat (2016); Nel Mezzo del Mezzo, Riso, Museo d’arte contemporanea della Sicilia, Palermo (2015). Solo shows include Mind Moves Matter, L’appartement 22, Rabat (2015) and Microcosmes, VOICE gallery, Marrakech (2018). He also participated to the fellowship Pernod-Ricard at Villa Vassilieff (Paris, France, 2018).
